My 2015 Blog
June, 2015 – I'm covering the whole month all at once, cause my life was pretty boring this month. I didn't really get to go anyplace special. Dad still takes me for a walk every morning, and sometimes I see other dogs, and sometimes I don't. Sunday June 28th Dad didn't take me for a walk until about 7:30 in the morning, at least an hour later than normal. And, boy, was it different. There were twelve dogs I saw today. And Dad was mad at me because I acted bad by barking at them the minute I saw them. Dad practically choked me as he held me back and sat me down to force me to be calm. But it worked. I didn't even fuss when I saw the lat two groups of dogs. Mom's mad at both me and Kylie cause we tracked mud into the house. Not our fault. It's just that there's mud in the back yard as it is being replanted, and we can't help but walk in it.
May 11 - 21, 2015 – Dad was gone on a long trip, and I missed him. He got home at 2:30 in the morning, and I was so excited that I woke up and greeted him at the door.
May 7, 2015 – Mom said this was the most expensive problem I’ve created yet. I wasn’t feeling good, and Dad noticed it and told Mom. But, Dad had to go to work. Mom decided I REALLY wasn’t feeling good, so took me to the Vet. They poked, and prodded, and finally took X-Rays, and found something in my tummy. It was too big to pass naturally, so they gave me some really yucky stuff that made me throw up. And I did. And out came a rock. It was a lava rock that was part of the decorative stuff around the yard. I don’t remember why I ate it. I was chewing on it for awhile and just swallowed it. I don’t think I’ll do that again. Mom said I better not, cause it cost $900.
May 2, 2015 – OK, today is a real special day, cause a new princess was born in England. And guess what? They named her after me. Her name is Charlotte. I wonder if they will call her Charlie too?
April 23, 2015 – I went to the Vet’s office today to get my shots. I HAD to get a new rabies shot or the City wouldn’t renew my license.
March 1, 2015 – Guess what? Today is the four year anniversary of my adoption. It’s adoption day. We celebrated by taking me and Kylie to the beach, the first time we’ve ever gone to the beach together. Bad idea. Kylie is good on her own, and I’m fairly good on my own, but Dad says I’m horrible when both of us are together. But, I did something different today, I actually went out into the waves – clear up to my head. I had to, cause Kylie did, and I couldn’t let her show me up. So I had to chase a toy and pick it up out of the water, just like she did. I saw some horses on the beach too, but Dad held onto me so I couldn’t chase them. I did bark at them once though, just to let them know I was there.
February 22, 2015 – Sunday, and no class today. But, it’s Kylie’s birthday, so we celebrated and had mini white cupcakes again. No candles to blow out, Kylie and I don’t like candles. Kylie is four years old today.
February 19, 2015 – It’s Thursday, and Dad got home from a trip late last night, and I was really happy to see him. He was only gone two days, but I always miss him, cause Mom doesn’t take me for a walk when Dad’s gone. Anyway, today is Dad’s birthday, so Kylie and I got some special treats too.
February 15, 2015 – Class number 6, and guess what? I graduated. Again. Jennifer said I still need more work (Dad agrees), but that I have come a long way from my first class. Having now been through twelve classes, I actually figured out the secret – they’re not training me, they’re training Dad on how to work with me. Jennifer said I still have WAAAAY too much energy and don’t focus well, so she wants me to go to another class to help me settle down before I continue to “Socialization 3.” Dad says that’s really her way of saying I just barely graduated. She suggested either a course on agility or search and rescue – both courses that will “give me a job” and force me to focus.
February 8, 2015 – Not only Mom came with us to class today, but so did Kylie. Mom wanted to see what would happen with Kylie watching the class, just as a distraction to me. And Jennifer said it worked way too well – I really didn’t like to see Mom with ANY other dog, including Kylie. It makes me jealous, and I act out. Dad was p***ed cause it made me even more difficult to work with.
February 1, 2015 – Class number 4 and Mom came with us today. I am getting a little better, but Dad says I still need work. He says I’m too smart and too stubborn. I learn things when I want to learn them, and I ignore what I don’t want to learn. Drives Dad crazy.
January 25, 2015 – Just me and Dad again for class 3 at the Dog Whisperer training. And although I didn’t do it on purpose, I cracked everybody up at class today. Jennifer was trying to make the point that when the human “pack leader” feeds the dog (that’s me), that the human needs to make sure to get eye contact with the dog so that the dog understands that the human is the pack leader. To make the point, she had a few small treats for each dog in class, and Jennifer herself was demonstrating by giving out the treats. She did this with about three or four dogs without a problem, then she came to me. Making eye contact was no problem, both Mom and Dad already make me do that at home. But, what Jennifer didn’t know was that Mom and Dad also make me “high five” to get a treat. So, when Jennifer held out a treat, I high fived her. Everybody started laughing cause I high fived Jennifer every time she tried to give me a treat.
January 18, 2015 – Sunday and it’s class 2 of training. There are 15 dogs in this class, so it’s a real big one. But, the idea is to get us to “socialize,” so the more the merrier. Mom didn’t come to today’s class – just me and Dad.
January 11, 2015 – Today I started “Socialization 2” class at Caesars Way training. It is only about 25 miles from my house, so Dad drives us over to Santa Clarita for the course. It takes about 45 minutes, cause we have to drive way back into the canyon to the “Canine Resort.”
January 1, 2015 – Thursday, and today is my fourth birthday. Since it’s new year’s day, Dad was home from work today, and actually spent the whole four day weekend at home. We celebrated my birthday with white mini cupcakes.
